It is good as far as it goes, but expected a bit more. Would like to see more about finding resources in Maine. For example, I am having a devil of a time finding rental homes to choose from in the Augusta area. I refuse to believe that no one has put together directory or something to the areas. That kind of info is useful to a new resident. The IT field is growing steadily, and our requirements are a bit more focused. For example High Speed Internet access. Cell Phone coverage is another. I docked one star until the guide is updated a bit. Perhaps some new appendixes with checklists style lists?

Her book, "Moving To Maine", has gone through a couple of editions. The most recent was just published in 2015, so the information provided in the book is up to date.The author takes a methodical approach to describing what's involved in moving to Maine. There is an extended introduction to Maine and its unique residents, but the heart of the narrative talks about jobs, housing, the weather, culture, family life, taxes, and registering automobiles, to name a few topics. At just under 200 pages, this book can't exhaust the subject, but there is plenty on offer here to think about. The author is clearly in love with the state, but that doesn't translate into a relentless sales pitch. Maine is different, but it seems to offer something that people value enough to keep moving to the state to get next to. No pictures or maps, unfortunately. Highly recommended as a planning resource.
I got this when we were thinking of relocating to Maine. I really enjoyed it and found it useful even after we made the move to Augusta :-)
