This book does have a lot of useful information, so I'd say it's worth buying and reading. However, the maps are terrible. They are tiny and there are "zoom" icons that do nothing inexplicably on the page. I'm using the amazon kindle app on my MacBook but it's even worse on my PaperWhite. Have no idea what format these maps would be of any use. Get the paper version if you can -- I can't because I live in Thailand and they won't ship here.
I'm still reading the guide but what I read so far is an excellent resource. After my travel to Korea my next step is Japan and I'm planning to purchase the rough guide for it. Thank you Rough Guide!
I'm planning travel to Korea in summer 2017 so I bought this Guide to start the big plan. ITS JUST PERFECT!!! Have the basic information about Korea like festivals, travel essentials and Food. Also have optional intineraries, basic words in Korean and books recommendations. I definitely love this guide, it's very easy to understand, small but precise and the shipping was very fast ( taking in consideration that I live in Puerto Rico)

A great guide for people who have outgrown Lonely Planet but still want to explore like a backpacker! Updated in October 2015, so very timely reviews which is important in a country as dynamic as South Korea. The only reason for four stars is the inclusion of a North Korean section. It's a waste of paper and space for the typical traveler. If someone is going to visit the North, I hope they're giving it more consideration than buying a guidebook.

I pick up a Rough Guide or Lonely Planet for every big trip I take. I find that they both suit my style, with Rough Guide being less touristy but also less straightforward to read.I'm heading to South Korea soon, so I opted for this guide because I didn't want to wait a week for the new Lonely Planet guide to come out. What a mistake!Normally Rough Guide offers everything I need to know to get through a trip, but this one doesn't cut it and I haven't even landed in Korea yet. Coverage of Seoul and Busan is lacking, and the maps are not particularly good. I ended up having to buy the LP guide anyway. Sigh.
