A gratifying marriage. And a desperate desire to be a mother. Finally she faced a terrifying diagnosis and an untimely death. In the end, Lecretia used her training, her skills and her natural charisma to advocate for the terminally ill. A story that helps us face our own mortality and wonder what we would do if we faced the same diagnosis.
This book was delivered today and I haven't been able to put it down. Matt writes an honest and deeply moving story that reflects the beauty and determination of Lecretia's life and the legacy she has left behind. This story reflects the love and meaning of family, and how they support Lecretica in her journey to have her voice heard......and long may her voice be heard into our future generations.
A fantastic read on a highly emotive subject which gives you the choices Lecrectia had. Very sad and well written. One he's never to be in that situation. Thanks for sharing. Matt clearly was a reluctant participant in sharing the story for Lecrectia but did her proud in my eyes.
New Zealand is clearly lagging behind in its laws around assisted dying for the terminally ill. Matt Vickers explains Lecretia's fight, and anyone interested in why she lost her case will find the answers. Lecretia and Matt were a team and he honours her with this moving but also down-to-earth book.
Words seem so inadequate. This is an inspirational story & a reminder of how we should value every day. Let's change the law.
Well written & honest
This was a very moving book and, for the most part, beautifully written. It starts nice and simply with the author telling us of how he and Lecretia met, their courtship, it was really quite sweet. Also appealing to me was the travel aspect as he goes on a backpacking trip to Thailand and the UK. I enjoyed reading all the travel details, where he went, the places they visited together etc. It’s the start of a beautiful journey together and they look forward to trying for a family.After finding his soul mate, their happiness is to be thrown a massive bombshell: Lecretia has a brain tumour.This was so moving, so poignant. For me, it just lost something when there were long stretches of legal stuff. I found it a bit rambling and think that a lot of it didn't need to be there-the writing was at its best when concentrating on telling about Lecretia and Matt.This is the story of an amazing woman, her fight with cancer, and the fight for her right to die with dignity.
This book was very emotional for me. It takes you deep into the life of Lecretia, who is terminally ill. It is not a subject that is spoken about, but it shoudl be amongst family and friends. The book was hard to read but Matt and Lecretia were there for each other. After reading this book, it opened up my eyes on how precious life is and those that are in our lives. Great writing, it made me feel like i was there with them both. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
